In April 2019 I had the absolute pleasure of working with the Paihia Trust, Iwi of Waitangi and the local community to turn an old sea wall into something the people could be proud of.
Inspired by the incredible marine life of the Bay of Islands, I wanted to bring awareness to locals and visitors alike to protect what we love.
Located on the bluff in Paihia, just before Te Ti Bay, the beach location required some serious logistics! I painted for 6 days straight, from sunrise to sunset, moving the lift off the beach at every high tide. On completion of the mural, local Iwi hosted a sunrise blessing with a great turn out from the community.
Big thank you to Shell Wilson, Grant Harnish, The Paihia Trust, Keri Colour for sponsoring paints, Kingsgate Hotel for accomodation, Waitangi Marae and the community of Paihia.
